Was there any explanation of the origin of the Borg from Star Trek? I've seen most of the TV shows but not read any books - is it explained there?Do the Borg not wonder why everybody hates them?

If the Borg could use time travel and they wanted to assimilate everyone then why wouldn't they just travel back in time with advanced technology to assimilate more worlds?
